“Dance is born of vision, not of a set of rules”     - Glen Tetley

Teet Kask was born on May 8, 1968, in Pärnu, Estonia, and began learning to dance at the age of five. His brother Tiit brought him to the town cultural center to take ballroom dance classes. As an ordinary child, Teet surprised all the locals at the age of nine when he passed the audition for the State Ballet School in the capital of Estonia. Brother Tiit often recalled that Teet seemed more comfortable expressing himself through movement than through words.

Teet lived at the ballet school dormitory from the age of ten and could go home only on weekends. His genuine passion for dance helped him overcome homesickness. In his first year at ballet school, Teet made his debut in the Estonian National Opera's Swan Lake. At eleven, he made his first appearance as an actor/dancer in the ballet film Medea.

At twelve, he drew the attention of renowned Russian ballet master Oleg Vinogradov, then director of the Kirov/Mariinsky Ballet, who handpicked Teet to perform the leading part in the ballet La Fille Mal Gardée. In the following years, while still in school, he performed several leading roles on the Estonia National Opera stage. After graduating from the Tallinn Ballet School, Teet became a member of the Estonian National Ballet.

At twenty, as the first Estonian ballet dancer, he was invited to join the Royal Swedish Ballet and the Norwegian National Ballet, where he enriched his skills through the companies' wide range of classical and contemporary ballet repertoire. During that time, Teet received face-to-face coaching from legendary choreographers like Glen Tetley, Rudi van Dantzig, Mats Ek, and Jiří Kylián. In 1997, Teet choreographed his first dance creation for the Norwegian National Ballet.

Curiosity and a search for experience guided him to collaborate with well-known artists from other fields, including photographer Knut Bry, composer Erkki-Sven Tüür, interactive artist Pia Myrvold, and architect Kisa Kawakami.

In 2004, Teet decided to enter City, University of London, to heighten his consciousness as a director and choreographer. During his studies, he devised a unique technique called Dancer as a Method. In his creations, Teet uses both the aesthetics of classical dance and modern expression, often flirting with a certain amount of experimentation. He has become widely recognized as a unique artist, choreographer, and tutor, synthesizing classical and contemporary dance.
